Everyone knows who they are... everyone, at sometime, has quoted the infamous "Backstreet's Back, Alright!"... almost everyone loves them. I'm speaking of none other than the hottest group around: The Backstreet Boys. They've dominated pop charts with hits like "Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)", "I'll Never Break Your Heart", and of course, the ever popular "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)".
The group was started when AJ McLean, Howie Dorough, and Nick Carter kept running into each other at acting auditions in Florida. They became quick friends and formed a trio, inspired by Boyz II Men and Color Me Badd. They soon met Kevin Richardson and decided to add another member, besides Kevin, to make a quintet. Kevin suggested his cousin, Brian Littrell from Kentucky, and after a few calls, the group was set... Well, almost.
Now, You're proabably asking yourself "What else do they need? Five hunks, great voices.. what's missing?" One thing-- a record label and contract. Their local manager, Donna Wright, was friends with David McPherson of Jive Records, and after much pleading to hear the guys, she finally got him to listen over the phone and they were signed right away.
The Backstreet Boys were an instant success and it shows through the R&B and pop charts of the past few years, as well as their multi-platinum albums. Way to go, guys.
