LAKELINE CHURCH

Since October of 1998, I started attending church services at Lakeline Church. It had been YEARS since I'd last gone to church, and I was really nervous about going, but the staff and members were so friendly that I felt right at home.

I heard of Lakeline Church through a former teacher of mine, Mr. Graham Mitchell. The first few days of school while introducing himself to the class, he talked about his devotion to God and his church. I was in awe over his beliefs, and was inspired to attend the church.

Lakeline itself is a church made more for today. The members are young, mainly in their 20's or 30's, the focus is how to improve our lives and apply the Bible to life. I really like the message of this church, and I feel like each one of the persons there is a family member of mine. The atmosphere is real relaxed and very comfortable and the music, which is fronted by Graham Mitchell, is really wonderful.

I would recommend this church to people who, like me, had lost faith in God and had nothing to believe or look forward to. Granted this church is not for everyone, but I don't plan to miss a service for quite a while. Pastor Brian, Mr. Mitchell, and a few others at the church have totally changed my life around and have restored my faith in Jesus Christ, our Lord.

I would not give up my love for God for anything or anyone. If I fell in love with someone and he asked me to give up being Christian to be with him, I would have to stop seeing that person. If I do marry someone, I would like him to be Christian, but if he's not and he's willing to live with me the way I am, then I will be perfectly happy. There is a verse about that in 1 Corinthians, Chapter 7. He does, however, have to be religious (like Jewish or Methodist). Some may think I'm "settling" for someone, but that's NOT what I'm saying. It depends on the situation and how much love there is in that relationship. Just thought I'd clear that up for those of you who asked me about that. ;-)

Along those same lines, I know that "God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Romans 5:8. In our youth group one day, we were asked if we would die for anyone, and I said I would die for a lot of people. I would die for someone who was a.)wrongfully accused, b.)a friend of mine that I loved, c.)a stranger in need (considering he was not evil or corrupted), d.)a person Jesus instructed me to die for. *FOOD FOR THOUGHT* I wrote that last sentence a while back and looking back on it, I was putting a standard love on people.. Saying "I would love them as long as they love me." That is wrong. If we look closer at Romans 5:8--we read it, but tend to miss the most important part of that verse. "While we were still sinners, Christ died for us." It doesn't say "Christ died for those who are pure in heart and good Christians." So, for me to limit my love is wrong. I should be willing to have sacrafical love for anyone and everyone. Not many people do, but I'm working on it.

I was told once that "God is a loving and gracious Father, and He'll never let you down. Being a Christian means making God's plans your first priority, but choosing to follow is a blessing-filled life. Seek to serve Him every day; He will give you rest.". Those few words and what I read in the Bible have helped me to make myself follow "God's plans" and indeed, it has been a blessing. So, if the person who told me that ever reads this page again, thank you for helping me find my way to God's "path". You are such a great person, and closer to me than some of my best friends. I would give my right arm for you, although you seem like you could never sin purposely. God really is looking out for you. =D

Right now I'm a Sunday school teacher for the 5-6 year olds at the church. I love doing it! The kids can be a little rowdy sometimes, but hey, they're kids! I hope that my lessons are meaningful to them. I'm not an experienced teacher and being a "baby" in Christ myself, I don't know the Bible by heart. I know, however, that God talks through me and helps the kids to absorb some of what I say.

Another thing I am involved in is a Diciple Class. There's about 8 or 9 of us learning how to be good effective Christian leaders. My goal is to be more vocal. In front of others I'm really quiet and shy and I need to work on that.

I have witnessed to a lot of people and I think it is the most awesome thing in the world. I've been told that I have a gift of seeing into people's hearts. I've helped a few people become closer to God, and to even consider that he exists.

If you want to know anything else about my faith or you have a question, feel free to contact me at anytime: dixong@tstar.net. I love to hear from people. God Bless you all.

I have found some really good songs about the Lord that I've heard that are so beautiful. I've typed them up so you can read them, save them and sing them. Enjoy and remember, Jesus loves you.
